Mike and Rachel traveled to the Grand Canyon for their sunrise proposal all the way from New England! Mike contacted me a few weeks before they flew out to Arizona to set up a session, but this session was special. He wanted to surprise Rachel by proposing to her and asked me to help plan it all! Of course, I said YES!
We chatted for a few days trying to decide on what location to have our session at. They were traveling to the Grand Canyon as well as to Page, AZ to visit Horseshoe Bend, ultimately, we decided on the Grand Canyon at sunrise even though they were flying into Phoenix the day before. I woke up around 4am to start my drive and met them in the parking lot around 6am. I brought them coffee as well as a blanket so they could really enjoy watching the sunrise together.
After a few minutes passed, Mike turned around and gave me a thumbs up to signal that he was about to propose. I had Rachel stay facing away and told her Mike would come up behind her and give her a squeeze for a cute photo, but Mike was down on one knee holding out the ring to Rachel. As she waited for the squeeze, she turned around to find Mike proposing to her! She was so surprised and extremely happy to see Mike proposing! Can you guess what she said? She said YES!
Helping plan this proposal gave me so much joy! When I help my couples plan a proposal, I make sure to plan it around the things they enjoy. For example, Mike and Rachel enjoy drinking coffee together and because this proposal was taking place very early in the morning, I wanted to bring coffee to them and have them really enjoy watching the sunrise in a picnic-type style. I gave them space to just be alone while taking photos of them from a far distance. Once Mike was ready, I told him to signal me so I can be prepared to capture the moment! Not every proposal is the same and the fun part is you can make it however you want, and I’ll help you out along the way!
After the proposal, we continued to take photos and it could not have been more perfect. We had the location all to ourselves and the views did not disappoint! After driving home, I made sure to send them sneak peeks ASAP so they could post and share them right away! If you need help planning an epic proposal, I’m your girl!
